High Mounted Stoplamp - Spoiler Mounted

HIGH MOUNTED STOPLAMP - SPOILER MOUNTED

Removal

Taurus only







1. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Open the decklid and remove the two rubber plugs.

Sable only

2. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Open the decklid.







3. Remove the two bumper stops.







4. Remove the two rubber plugs.

Taurus only







5. Remove the pin-type retainers and the decklid trim panel.







6. Disconnect the high mounted stoplamp electrical connector and remove the three nuts retaining the spoiler to the decklid.

Sable only







7. Disconnect the high mounted stoplamp electrical connector from the jumper harness.







8. Remove the two nuts and the two bolts.

Taurus only







9. CAUTION: Use care when unsnapping the ends of the spoiler from the decklid. The spoiler may slide across the decklid marring the exterior finish.

Remove the spoiler from the decklid.
- Push the grommet and electrical connector through the decklid.







10. Remove the screw access covers.







11. Remove the screws and the high mounted stoplamp.

12. CAUTION:
- Use care to avoid damaging the high mounted stoplamp wire when removing the grommet and wire from the decklid.
- Use care to avoid scratching the paint finish with the spoiler studs when removing the spoiler from the decklid.

Remove the spoiler from the decklid.
- Push the grommet and electrical connector through the decklid.

Installation

All vehicles







1. CAUTION:
- Use care to avoid damaging the high mounted stoplamp wire when installing the grommet and wire from the decklid.
- Use care to avoid scratching the paint finish with the spoiler studs when installing the grommet and wire into the decklid.

Route the high mounted stoplamp electrical connector through the decklid and seat the grommet in the hole.

Taurus only







2. CAUTION: Use care to avoid scratching the paint finish with the spoiler studs when installing the spoiler onto the decklid.

Align the spoiler studs to the holes and install the spoiler onto the decklid.
- Tighten the three nuts.
- Connect the center high mount stoplamp electrical connector.







3. Install the decklid trim panel.
- Install the pin-type retainers.







4. Install the two rubber plugs.

Sable only







5. CAUTION: Use care to avoid scratching the paint finish with the spoiler studs when installing the spoiler onto the decklid.

Install the spoiler onto the decklid.
- Align the spoiler studs to the holes.
- Tighten the two nuts and the two bolts.







6. Install the two rubber plugs.







7. Install the two bumper stops.
