Parking Brake Cable: Adjustments

Standard Procedure
1. Make sure the parking brake is released.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. NOTE: Hold the rod while turning the adjustment nut.
Install the special tool. Turn the adjustment nut until the cable tension is 25 - 32 Kg (55 - 70 lbs.).
4. Remove the special tool and lower the vehicle.
5. Check the operation of the parking brake.
6. NOTE: Make sure there is no drag on the rear brakes.
Raise the vehicle and verify the cable is within specification using the special tool.
Optional Procedure
1. Make sure the parking brake is released.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Turn the adjustment nut as necessary to remove slack in the cable.
4. Spin rear wheels to make sure there is no drag induced on both rear brakes.
