Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair

Brake Load Sensor Proportioning Valve Adjustment-Four Door Sedan

NOTE: This procedure is for vehicles not equipped with ABS.

1. NOTE: Make sure that the fuel tank is at least � full.

Raise the vehicle on a suitable lift so that the vehicle is at curb height and wheels are on a flat surface.

2. NOTE: Do not change the position of the upper nut on the valve operating rod.





Loosen the valve adjuster sleeve set screw.
3. Cut a piece of 3/8-inch OD x �-inch ID rubber vacuum hose 16.3 mm (0.65 inch) in length and slice it lengthwise.





4. Install the hose on the valve operating rod.

5. NOTE: Make sure that the valve adjuster sleeve is sliding freely and is resting on the lower mounting bracket.





Tighten the valve adjuster sleeve set screw.
6. Lower the vehicle.
