Removal and Installation

NOTE: New safety belt buckles, height adjusters, center adjust tongues and belts and retractors can be installed separately. However, if a safety belt assembly was in use during a collision, a new belt and retractor must be installed as well as the center adjust tongue and belt and buckle assembly or the center adjust tongue and the cable and buckle assembly. When installing new safety belts and buckles, height adjusters, safety cables and buckles, center adjust tongues and belt and retractors, use only the parts specified in the Ford Master Parts Catalog for the make and model of the vehicle being repaired. Safety belt assemblies must not be interchanged between vehicle models.

All tether anchors

1. Remove the load space trim panel.

2. Remove the center tether anchor assembly.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the center tether anchor assembly.

Outboard tether anchors












3. NOTE: The driver side is shown, the passenger side is similar.

Remove the outboard tether anchor bolts.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the outboard tether anchor assembly.

4. WARNING: It is important that the bolt/anchor be securely tightened to specification. Otherwise, the child's safety seat may not be properly secured, and the child can be injured in case of a sudden stop or accident.

NOTE:
- Rework the sheet metal to its original condition and structural integrity.
- Make sure to tighten the bolts to specification.
- Make sure that the safety belt buckles are accessible after seat installation.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Refer to the removal procedure or Specifications for torque specifications.

5. Check the restraint system for correct operation.
