PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

For the hazard lamp function, power is sent through circuit 385 (WH/RD) to the multifunction switch. When the hazard lamp function is selected, voltage is routed to the electronic flasher relay. The electronic flasher relay routes voltage back to the multifunction switch which in turn routes power to the LH and RH rear and front turn lamps. The electronic flasher cycles at a rate of approximately 80 times per minute. If a bulb has failed, the electronic flasher will cycle at approximately 160 times per minute.

For the turn signal function, when the ignition is in the RUN position, voltage is sent through circuit 1039 (BK/YE) to the multifunction switch. Voltage is then routed to the electronic flasher relay and then back to the multifunction switch. When a turn signal function is selected, voltage is routed to the LH or RH rear and front turn lamps. The electronic flasher cycles at a rate of approximately 80 times per minute. If a bulb has failed, the electronic flasher will cycle at approximately 160 times per minute.
