Fuel System - Accelerator Pedal Vibrates

ACCELERATOR PEDAL VIBRATION - 3.0L 4V

FORD:
2004-2005 Taurus

MERCURY:
2004-2005 Sable

This article supersedes TSB 04-22-4 to update the causal part number and description of this condition for the 3.0L 4-valve engine.

ISSUE
Some 2004-2005 Taurus/Sable vehicles equipped with the 3.0L 4-valve engine may exhibit a vibration felt in the accelerator pedal at 40-42 MPH (64-68 Km/h). This condition may be due to the accelerator cable routing.

ACTION
Reroute the accelerator cable. Refer to the following Service Procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect air cleaner tube at the air box.





2. Reroute accelerator cable over the top of the brake fluid reservoir and on top of the air cleaner tube (Figure 1).

3. Use cable tie to secure accelerator cable to the vacuum hose within 5/8" (16 mm) of the black plastic vacuum reservoir, directly above the brake fluid reservoir (Figure 1).

4. Re-attach the air cleaner tube to the air box.
