Removal
1. CAUTION: Do not disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from the valve cover or damage to the ventilation tube may occur.
Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from the air cleaner outlet pipe.
2. Remove the nuts and the coolant pump drive belt cover.
3. Disconnect coil-on-plug electrical connectors.
^ Detach the retainer and position the wiring harness aside.
4. Remove the bolts and the ignition coils.
5. Disconnect the wiring harness from the valve cover studs.
^ Position the wiring harness aside.
6. NOTE: Inspect the crankcase ventilation tube and valve cover sealing area. If either a new valve cover or crankcase ventilation tube is required, both components must be replaced.
Remove the stud bolts and the valve cover.
^ Remove and discard the gasket.
Installation
1. NOTE: Clean the valve cover sealing area and install a new gasket on the valve cover.
NOTE: Clean the head and the front cover sealing surfaces using metal surface cleaner before applying silicone gasket and sealant.
NOTE: Apply a 5 mm (0.2 inch) dot of gasket and sealant to the front cover-to-cylinder head joints. The valve cover must be installed within four minutes of applying the sealant.
Tighten the valve cover studs in the sequence shown.
2. Connect the wiring harness to the valve cover studs.
3. NOTE: Apply a film of caliper grease and dielectric compound to the ignition coil boot prior to installation.
Install the bolts and the ignition coils.
4. Position the wiring harness and retainer, and connect the coil-on-plug electrical connectors.
5. Install the coolant pump drive belt cover and the nuts.
