BEFORE 1/7/2005 AND EQUIPPED WITH THE
(AWF21) 6 SPEED TRANSAXLE

ISSUE
Some 2005 Five Hundred/Montego vehicles built before 1/7/2005 and equipped with the AWF21 6 speed transaxle, may exhibit a harsh or erratic upshift/downshift and a wrench lamp illuminated with DTC P2544. The condition may be due to the powertrain control module (PCM) and transmission control module (TCM) calibration.
ACTION
If an upshift or downshift condition is present, along with the P2544 DTC only, reprogram the PCM and TCM to the latest calibration using WDS release B34.7 and higher or B35.1 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
If other DTCs are present in addition to the P2544, address the other DTCs first through normal diagnostics, then reprogram the PCM and TCM.
NOTE
THIS NEW CALIBRATION IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE B35 CD.
