Removal and Installation
1. Remove the LH engine mount.
2. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
3. Disconnect the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector.
4. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
5. Disconnect the engine wiring harness retainers.
6. Disconnect the ground wire.
7. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
8. Disconnect the A/C high pressure switch electrical connector.
9. Disconnect the fuel tube spring lock coupling.
10. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve hoses and the electrical connector.
11. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve.
12. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.
13. Disconnect the heated PCV wiring harness and position aside.
14. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.
15. NOTE: The valve cover harness retaining studs in positions two and three retain the fuel charging wiring.
Disconnect the harness from the valve cover and position out of the way.
16. Lower the engine.
17. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surface. These tools cause scratches and gouges that make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of the gasket material.
Remove the studs, the bolts and the valve cover.
^ Clean the gasket surfaces with a plastic scraping tool and metal surface cleaner.
18. NOTE: If not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Apply sealant in the location shown.
19. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
