Alternator: Service and Repair
GENERATORFlywheel Holding Tool:
SPECIAL TOOL(S)
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise and position the accessory drive belt aside.
3. Remove the power steering hose bracket nut from the generator mounting bolt.
4. Detach the wiring harness.
5. Remove the nut and disconnect the wiring harness locator.
6. Remove the nuts and the bolt. Position the power steering reservoir aside.
7. Remove the power steering pump bolts.
- Position the power steering pump and line aside.
8. NOTE: The left side bolt will come out with the generator.
Remove the upper generator bolts.
9. Remove the right front tire.
10. Remove the front fender splash shield.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Remove the pin-type retainer.
3 Remove the front fender splash shield.
11. Remove the torque converter inspection cover.
12. Install the flywheel holding tool.
13. NOTE: The crankshaft pulley bolt has a reverse thread.
Remove the bolt and the crankshaft pulley.
14. Remove the screws and the generator splash shield.
15. Lower the generator to allow access to the electrical connectors.
1 Disconnect the crankshaft sensor.
2 Release the oxygen sensor connector locator from the bracket.
3 Remove the lower generator bolt.
16. Disconnect the regulator electrical connector.
17. Remove the generator from the vehicle.
1 Remove the B+ connector nut.
2 Disconnect the B+ connector and remove the generator.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
