ISSUE
Some 2004 Taurus/Sable vehicles equipped with a 3.0L 4-valve engine may exhibit the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with multiple coil on plug diagnostic trouble codes (P035X) with no driveability symptoms.
ACTION
Ensure the battery terminal connections are tight and the battery junction box connector locking nut is fully seated. Then reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release B43.14 and higher or B44.4 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the B44 CD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
