Exterior Lighting
EXTERIOR LIGHTINGThe exterior lighting system consists of:
- headlamp switch
- multifunction switch
- brake pedal position (BPP) switch
- high mounted stoplamp
- fog lamps
- headlamps
- reversing lamps
- license lamps
- rear lamps
- front parking/turn signal lamps (located in the headlamp assembly)
- rear side marker lamps
- photocell sensor (if equipped with autolamps)
- smart junction box (SJB)
The headlamp switch controls the headlamps, parking lamps and fog lamps or can be selected to autolamps for automatic control of the exterior lamps.
The multi-function switch controls the turn signals and hazard lamps, and determines whether power is supplied to the low beam or high beam headlamps.
The fog lamp switch is integral to the headlamp switch. The fog lamp relay is controlled by the SJB.The fog lamps can only be operated with the key in RUN, the parking or headlamps on and the multifunction switch in the low beam position.
The parking lamps are part of the headlamp assembly.
The BPP switch controls voltage to the rear lamps and the high mounted stoplamp.
When the autolamp feature (if equipped) is selected, the SJB monitors the photocell sensor input and determines whether the exterior lights should be on or off.
