Brake Switch (Cruise Control): Service and Repair

SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATOR SWITCH

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery.







2. Remove the deactivator switch.
1 Disconnect the electrical connector.
2 Rotate counterclockwise and remove the deactivator switch.

INSTALLATION
1. Fully depress the brake pedal.







2. Install the deactivator switch.
1 Position the deactivator switch in the bracket and rotate clockwise.
2 Connect the electrical connector.

3. Slowly release the brake pedal.

4. CAUTION: If the deactivator switch is over-adjusted, a new deactivator switch must be installed.

NOTE: After adjusting the deactivator switch, make sure that the brake lights are not illuminated. If the brake lamps are illuminated, repeat the adjustment step with a 0.8 mm (0.03 in) feeler gauge between the brake pedal flag and the deactivating switch plunger.

Adjust the deactivator switch by pulling up firmly on the brake pedal.

5. Connect the battery.
