Removal
1. Remove the cooling fan.
2. Remove the left and right valve covers.
3. Remove the crankshaft front seal.
4. Remove the coolant pump pulley.

2 Remove the coolant pump pulley.
5. Remove the bolts and position the power steering pump aside.
6. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
7. Remove the nut and the bracket.
8. Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil.
9. Remove the four front bolts.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Remove the belt idler pulleys.
12. Remove the retainer and position the coolant line aside.
13. Remove the bolts and the studs, and the engine front cover.
14. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.
Remove and discard the gasket, clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.
Installation
1. NOTE: If the valve cover is not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can result in future oil leakage.
Apply silicone gasket and sealant in the locations shown.

2. Install the engine front cover.
Tighten the fasteners in the sequence shown.
3. Install the belt idler pulleys.
4. Position the coolant line and install the coolant line retainer.
5. Raise the vehicle.
6. Tighten the bolts in three stages, in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 3: Tighten an additional 60 degrees.
7. Install the drain plug.
8. Install the bracket and the nut.
9. Connect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
10. Position the power steering pump and install the bolts.
11. Install the coolant pump pulley.
12. Install the crankshaft front seal.
13. Install the left and right valve cover.
14. Install the cooling fan.
15. Fill the crankcase with clean engine oil.
