REMOVAL
WARNING:
- Always wear safety glasses when repairing an air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) vehicle and when handling an air bag module. This will reduce the risk of injury in the event of an accidental deployment.
- After deployment, the air bag surface can contain deposits of sodium hydroxide, a product of the gas generant combustion that is irritating to the skin. Wash your hands with soap and water afterwards.
- Never probe the connectors on the air bag module. Doing so can result in air bag deployment, which can result in personal injury.
NOTE: Driver side shown, passenger side similar.
All vehicles
1. Move the seat fully forward.
2. WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any front or side air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) components and before servicing, replacing, adjusting or striking components near the front or side air bag sensors, such as doors, instrument panel, console, door latches, strikers, seats and hood latches.
The side impact sensors are located at or near the base of the B-pillars.
To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. Be sure to disconnect auxiliary batteries and power supplies (if equipped).
Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.
Vehicles with seat side air bags
3. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes, and instructions in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) deactivation/reactivation procedure.
Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).

Disconnect the electrical connectors, and detach the harness relief connector.
12. CAUTION: Use care when handling the seat and track assembly. Dropping the assembly or sitting on a seat not secured in the vehicle may result in damaged components.
Remove the seat from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, and notes at the beginning of the removal procedure.
All vehicles
1. NOTE: While installing and positioning the seat, make sure the safety belt anchor is positioned through the seat mounting stud.
Position the seat in the vehicle.
2. NOTE: Some component connectors may not exist due to vehicle options. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, do not remove the restraint system diagnostic tool or connect the seat side air bag electrical connector at this time.
Connect the harness relief connector, and connect the electrical connectors.

13. With the restraint system diagnostic tools still installed at the remaining deployable devices, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
14. WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any front or side airbag supplemental restraint system (SRS) components and before servicing, replacing, adjusting or striking components near the front or side airbag sensors, such as doors, instrument panel, console, door latches, strikers, seats and hood latches.
The side airbag sensors are located at or near the base of the B-pillar.
To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. Be sure to disconnect auxiliary batteries and power supplies (if equipped).
Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.
15. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes, and instructions in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) deactivation/reactivation procedure.
Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
All vehicles
16. WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from the vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.
NOTE: If any disassembly and assembly was carried out on the front passenger seat cushion, it is necessary to rezero the occupant classification sensor (OCS) using the scan tool active command.
With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
