Roof Opening Panel Seal

ROOF OPENING PANEL SEAL

REMOVAL
1. Remove the roof opening panel glass.







2. NOTE: With an assistant, make sure the lifter arms do not jump track as they are lowered from the vent position.

Retract the lifter arms to the full open position.

3. Cover the interior of the vehicle.







4. NOTE: Use a #30 drill bit.

Drill out the 14 rivets.







5. NOTE: Starting at the rear of the roof opening panel trim ring, pull it towards the center of the opening. Brake the seal and work around until the seal comes free.

Remove the roof opening panel trim ring.







6. CAUTION: Do not scratch the paint when cleaning off the remaining sealant.

Clean all remaining sealant from the roof opening panel opening.
- Apply metal primer to any exposed metal in the roof opening panel trim ring area.







7. Remove the roof opening panel trim ring retainer.

8. CAUTION: Make sure that no debris falls into the roof opening panel track. Damage to the track or motor may occur.

Clean any debris from the roof opening panel track and frame area.

INSTALLATION







1. Apply a 6.35 mm (0.25 in) bead of sealant to the new roof opening panel trim ring.







2. Starting at the rear of the roof opening panel opening, position the roof opening panel trim ring.







3. NOTE:
- Use a #30 drill bit to drill the new holes.
- Drill the new holes and install the new rivets one at a time.

Using the witness marks on the new roof opening panel trim ring, drill the rivet holes.







4. Install the 14 rivets.







5. Install the trim ring retainer.







6. Inspect the 14 rivet heads for a smooth, flush fit.
- Remove any burrs or nicks from the rivet heads.







7. Operate the lifting arms back to the vent position.
8. Install the roof opening panel glass.
