Front Door Hinge: Adjustments

HINGE ADJUSTMENT - FRONT

NOTE:
- To correctly align the doors, adjust the hinges and the door latch striker. Adjusting the hinge affects the positioning of the outside surface of the door frame. Adjusting the door latch striker affects the alignment of the door relative to the weatherstrip and the door closing characteristics.
- If the door will not align correctly, carry out an underbody misalignment check.
- Check the rear door hinge adjustment before adjusting the front door hinge.
- The door should be adjusted for even and parallel fit with the body opening and surrounding panels.







1. Measure the clearances between the door and the body.







2. Loosen the door latch striker bolt.
3. Remove the front







4. Mark the door hinge to body for reference.
5. Remove the A-pillar lower trim panel.







6. Position the insulator aside.
1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
2. Remove the pin-type retainer.







7. Loosen the lower hinge nut.







8. NOTE: The stud is fixed and can not be adjusted.

Loosen the door hinge to body bolts enough to permit movement.

9. Adjust the door as necessary.







10. Tighten the door hinge to body bolts.







11. Tighten the lower hinge nut.







12. Confirm the correct clearance between the door and the body.







13. Position the insulator.
1. Connect the electrical connectors.
2. Install the pin-type retainer.

14. Install the A-pillar lower trim panel.
15. Install the front fender.







16. Adjust the door latch striker as necessary.







17. Tighten the door latch striker bolts.
18. Lubricate the hinges and door check arms with multi-purpose grease spray.
