REMOVAL
WARNING:
^ THE BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONER IS A PYROTECHNIC DEVICE. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN SERVICING AN AIR BAG-EQUIPPED VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING A BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONER.
^ THE BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONER IS A PYROTECHNIC DEVICE. NEVER PROBE THE CONNECTORS ON THE BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONERS. DOING SO COULD RESULT IN BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONER OR AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT AND COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
NOTE: Repair is made by installing a new part only. If the new part does not correct the condition, install the original part and carry out the diagnostic procedure again.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.
WARNING: TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE REPAIRING OR REPLACING ANY FRONT OR SIDE AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) COMPONENTS AND BEFORE SERVICING, REPLACING, ADJUSTING OR STRIKING COMPONENTS NEAR THE FRONT OR SIDE AIR BAG SENSORS, SUCH AS DOORS, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CONSOLE, DOOR LATCHES, STRIKERS, SEATS AND HOOD LATCHES.
PLEASE REFER TO AIR BAG SYSTEMS TO DETERMINE LOCATION OF THE FRONT AIR BAG SENSORS.
THE SIDE AIR BAG SENSORS ARE LOCATED AT OR NEAR THE BASE OF THE B-PILLAR.
TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT AT LEAST ONE MINUTE. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT AUXILIARY BATTERIES AND POWER SUPPLIES (IF EQUIPPED).
2. Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION/REACTIVATION PROCEDURE. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
3. Remove the driver seat.
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE DRIVER SEAT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.
4. Disconnect and route the safety belt buckle and pretensioner electrical connector and wire harness out from under the seat.
5. Remove the safety belt buckle and pretensioner.
1 Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the seat harness side of the front driver safety belt buckle pretensioner electrical connector.
2 Remove the nut.
3 Remove the safety belt buckle and pretensioner.
NOTE: Do not handle the safety belt buckle and pretensioner in the area of the safety belt buckle and pretensioner cable or retaining nut. Accidental pretensioner deployment can occur and result in personal injury.
INSTALLATION
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS AND NOTES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE REMOVAL PROCEDURE.
All seats
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.
2. Install the safety belt buckle and pretensioner.
1 Position the safety belt buckle and pretensioner onto the seat track bracket.
^ Align the safety belt buckle and pretensioner mounting bracket slot so that the seat track bracket anti-rotation tab goes through it.
2 Install the nut.
NOTE: Make sure to tighten the nut to specification.
3. Route the safety belt buckle and pretensioner electrical connector and wire harness between the seat cushion frame and the seat track.
4. Connect the safety belt buckle and pretensioner electrical connector.
5. Reposition the seat cushion trim cover over the safety belt buckle and pretensioner and attach the J-clips.
6. Position the driver seat in the vehicle.
7. Tilt the driver seat toward the rear of the vehicle and from under the seat connect the ten-pin electrical connector.
8. Install the driver seat rear nuts.
NOTE: If equipped, make sure to position the safety belt anchor on top of the seat track before installing the nut.
9. Install the driver seat rear trim covers.
Vehicles with power seats
10. Connect the battery ground cable.
All vehicles
11. Position the driver seat rearward.
Vehicles with power seats
12. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

PLEASE REFER TO THE APPROPRIATE COMPONENT OR SYSTEM TO DETERMINE LOCATION OF THE FRONT AIR BAG SENSORS.
THE SIDE AIR BAG SENSORS ARE LOCATED AT OR NEAR THE BASE OF THE B-PILLAR.
TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT AT LEAST ONE MINUTE. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT AUXILIARY BATTERIES AND POWER SUPPLIES (IF EQUIPPED).
All seats
13. Install the driver seat front bolts.
14. Install the driver seat front trim covers.
15. Connect the battery ground cable.
16. With the other restraint system diagnostic tools still in place, prove out the SRS. Prove Out Procedure
17. Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.

18. With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Prove Out Procedure
WARNING: THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TOOL(S) ARE FOR RESTRAINT SYSTEM SERVICE ONLY. REMOVE FROM THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO ROAD USE. FAILURE TO REMOVE COULD RESULT IN INJURY AND POSSIBLE VIOLATION OF VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS.
19. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
