Headliner: Service and Repair
REMOVALSedan only
1. Fully recline the front seats and position the steering wheel in the upward position.
Sedan and wagon
2. Position all four door weatherstrips aside.
3. Remove the LH and RH windshield side garnish moldings.
4. Located on the RH A-pillar, disconnect the headliner wiring harness electrical connector.
5. Remove the upper B-pillar trim panel.
6. Remove the assist handles.
1 Lift up the screw covers.
2 Remove the screws.
Sedan only
7. Remove the LH and RH roof trim panels.
Wagon only
8. Remove the LH and RH quarter trim panel.
Sedan and wagon
9. Remove the four screws and remove the LH and RH sun visors and sun visor clips.
10. Remove the interior lamp assembly.
11. If equipped, remove the roof opening panel garnish moulding.
12. Remove the rear pin-type retainers.
13. Remove the front RH pin-type retainer and remove the headliner.
NOTE: Use a plastic scraper to detach the headliner from the roof at the front half of the headliner.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- For sedan, install the headliner through the passenger side door.
- For wagons, install the headliner through the liftgate opening. Have an assistant help support the headliner to make sure the headliner does not fold.
NOTE: The headliner is used one time only. When applying headliner adhesive, make sure the adhesive does not adhere to the bare metal. Duplicate the original pattern on the old headliner with a 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) off set.
