Ball Joint Inspection
Ball Joint Inspection1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Prior to carrying out any inspection of the ball joints, inspect the wheel bearing.
3. Have an assistant pull inward and outward on the top and the bottom tire. Using a suitable dial indicator, measure the movement between the wheel knuckle ball joint and the lower arm. If the movement is at or exceeds 0.75 mm (0.03 inch), install a new wheel knuckle.
