Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

To enter the instrument cluster self-test press E/M and SELECT buttons simultaneously while turning the ignition switch from OFF to ON. If the instrument cluster flashes on and off continuously, INSTALL a new instrument cluster.

If the instrument cluster displays:
- only the top and bottom two coolant temperature gauge display bars, diagnose the coolant temperature gauge system.
- only the top and bottom two fuel gauge display bars, diagnose the fuel gauge system.
- only the bottom engine temperature gauge display bar, diagnose the engine temperature gauge system.
- CS or CO, diagnose the fuel level sender input circuitry.
- error in the odometer display, diagnose the speedometer/odometer circuitry.
