Valve Cover LH

Removal and Installation
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.





3. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.





4. Disconnect the power steering electrical connector.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Remove the air cleaner and outlet pipe.
7. Remove the wiper and cowl.





8. Disconnect the:
^ 42-pin connector.
^ 16-pin connector.
^ transmission electrical connector.





9. Disconnect the electrical connectors.





10. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.





11. Remove the four ignition coils.





12. Disconnect the fuel charging wiring harness from the valve cover and position out of the way.





13. Remove the stud from the crash bracket.





14. Loosen the crash bracket retaining bolt.





15. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surface. These tools cause scratches and gouges that make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of the gasket material.

Remove the studs, the bolts and the valve cover.
^ Clean the sealing surfaces with a plastic scraping tool and metal surface cleaner.





16. NOTE: If not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Apply sealant in the locations shown.





17. Tighten the bolts and studs in the sequence shown.
