Shift Interlock: Service and Repair

Brake Shift Interlock Actuator-Floor Shift

Removal
1. Remove the center console.





2. Remove the-ignition/shifter interlock cable from the floor shift.
1. Disconnect the cable from the bucket.
2. Disconnect the cable from the shift cam.





3. Remove the LH lower instrument panel trim.





4. Disconnect four electrical connectors.





5. Remove the steering column support bracket.
1. Remove the diagnostic electrical connector bolts.
2. Remove the steering column support bracket bolts.





6. Remove the nuts and lower the steering column.





7. Disconnect the shift interlock electrical connector.





8. Remove the bolts.





9. Remove the ignition/shifter interlock cable and actuator assembly.

Installation





1. NOTE: Check for correct interlock operation. The ignition key should be removable only with the transaxle range selector lever in PARK. The transaxle range selector lever should be locked in the PARK position with the key removed.

Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
