Cylinder Head-LH-with CIII Power Steering SystemRemoval
1. Remove the lower intake manifold.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt.
3. Remove the engine anti-roll strut brace.
- Remove the nuts.
4. Remove the power steering pump.
5. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
6. Remove the generator cable bracket bolt.
7. Remove the bolts and the generator.
8. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Remove the bolts.
9. Remove the spark plug wires.
10. Remove the LH exhaust manifold.
11. Remove the bolts and the front end accessory drive bracket assembly.
12. Remove the eight cylinder head bolts.
13. Remove the cylinder heads.
14. Remove and discard the head gaskets.
Installation
1. Clean all the sealing surfaces.
2. Check the cylinder head and the cylinder block for flatness.
3. NOTE: The "V" notch in the cylinder head gasket faces the front of the engine.
Position a new cylinder head gasket.
4. Position the cylinder head.
5. Install the bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in five stages in the sequence shown.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
- Stage 2: Loosen the bolts one full turn.
- Stage 3: Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
- Stage 4: Rotate an additional 90°.
- Stage 5: Rotate an additional 90°.
6. Install the front end accessory drive bracket assembly and bolts.
7. Install the LH exhaust manifold.
8. Install the spark plug wires.
9. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Install the bolt.
10. Install the generator and the bolts.
11. Install the generator cable bracket bolt.
12. Connect the generator electrical connectors.
13. Install the engine anti-roll strut brace.
- Install the two nuts.
14. Install the power steering pump.
15. Install the accessory drive belt.
16. Install the lower intake manifold.
17. Connect the battery ground cable.
