Oil Pan, Engine
Oil PanRemoval
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the dual converter Y-pipe.
4. Remove the starter motor.
5. Remove the engine rear plate.
- Remove the bolt.
6. Drain the engine oil.
7. Remove the oil pan.
- Remove the 16 bolts.
8. Remove the oil pan gasket from the oil pan.
- Clean the oil pan-to-cylinder block sealing surface.
Installation
1. Install the oil pan gasket onto the oil pan.
2. Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in two places where the cylinder block meets the front cover and in two places where the rear main bearing cap meets the cylinder block.
3. Position the oil pan and install the 16 bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in three stages:
- Stage 1: Tighten the four corner bolts to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
- Stage 2: Tighten the remaining bolts from back to front to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
- Stage 3: Check all bolts for correct tightness.
4. Install the engine rear plate.
- Install the bolt
5. Install the starter motor.
6. Install the dual converter Y-pipe.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
9. Connect the battery ground cable.
10. NOTE: The cooling fan should cycle at least one time.
Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
11. Stop the engine.
12. Raise and support the vehicle.
13. Retighten the oil pan bolts from the back to front to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
14. Inspect the oil pan gasket for correct alignment.
15. Lower the vehicle.
