Water Pump: Service and Repair

Water Pump-Vehicles with 2.5L Engine

Removal
All vehicles
1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. Remove the thermostat housing.





4. Remove the engine cover.





5. Rotate the belt tensioner clockwise by hand.
6. Remove the belt.





Vehicles with automatic transaxle
7. Disconnect the transmission range selector electrical connector.





All vehicles
8. Remove the water pump bolts.





9. Disconnect the coolant hose from the water pump.





10. Disconnect the heater hose and remove the water pump.





11. Remove the coolant hose.





12. Remove the water pump from the housing.
^ Discard the water pump gasket and O-ring seal.

Installation











1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Install a new water pump gasket and O-ring seal.
2. Fill the cooling system.
