Antitheft - Perimeter

Part 2:

The anti-theft protection system provides protection from unauthorized entry into the vehicle.

The system is controlled by a central security module. When armed, unauthorized entry into the vehicle is detected by lamp switches.

Once triggered, the system flashes the turn signal lamps, and sounds the alarm system horn.

System Arming
The system will be armed by the keyless entry remote transmitter when the following input sequence is followed:
1. Turn the ignition switch off and remove the key.
2. Close all the doors (unlocked).
3. Press the LOCK button on the transmitter to lock the doors. The turn signal lamps will flash once.
4. If the turn signal lamps do not flash, the system is not armed.

The system will also be armed when the following input sequence is followed:
5. Turn the ignition switch off and remove the key.
6. Close all the doors (unlocked).
7. Lock the doors, with the mechanical key. The turn signal lamps will flash once.
8. If the turn signal lamps do not flash, the system is not armed.

Opening any door will activate the alarm after the alarm is armed.

Disarming an Untriggered System
The system can be disarmed by carrying out one of the following procedures.
- Unlock a front door with a key.
- Unlock the front door by pressing the UNLOCK button of the key less entry remote transmitter.
- If remaining in the vehicle, turn the ignition switch to ON position.

System Triggering
The armed alarm system will be triggered if any door is opened without using a key or a keyless entry remote transmitter to unlock the door first.

Disarming a Triggered System
Carrying out either of the following steps will disarm the triggered alarm system.
- Driver or passenger front door is unlocked with a key.
- Driver door is unlocked by pressing the UNLOCK button of a remote entry transmitter.

Once the system has been triggered, the horns and turn signal lamps will shut off automatically after 30 seconds. The system will then reset to an armed state and will trigger again if another intrusion occurs.

PANIC Alarm Activation
1. Press the PANIC button of a keyless entry remote transmitter. The turn signal lamps flash and the horn sounds for approximately 2 minutes or until:
1 The same PANIC button is pressed again, or
2 The ignition switch lock cylinder is turned on.

The panic feature is controlled by the central security module and is independent of the anti-theft system.
