Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.





3. Disconnect the heat shield and remove the nuts on the shifter assembly.
- Lower the vehicle.
4. Remove the floor console.





5. Remove the shifter assembly.
- Disconnect the shift cable and the selector cable.
- Remove the cables from their abutment brackets by twisting each abutment bracket counterclockwise.
- Remove the shifter assembly.

Installation





1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Adjust the shifter cables.

2. NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

Connect the battery ground cable.
