Gearshift Cable Adjustment

Special Tools:





Special Tool(s)

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: Move the gearshift lever into neutral.





2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL).
1 Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) electrical connector.
2 Loosen the hose clip.
3 Disconnect the vacuum hose.
4 Unhook the rubber retainer.
- Remove the intake hose.





3. Release the adjusting mechanisms for the shift and selector cables by pressing them in (shown from below).





4. Unclip the boot, fold it up and install the special tool.





5. Click the adjusting mechanisms onto the shift cable and selector cable (shown from below).





6. Install the Air Cleaner (ACL).
1 Hook the rubber retainer in place.
2 Connect the vacuum hose.
3 Tighten the hose clip.
4 Connect the MAF electrical connector.
- Install the intake hose.





7. Remove the special tool, pull the boot over the gearshift lever and clip it in place.

8. NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

Connect the battery ground cable.
