Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair
Disconnect Tool, Spring Lock Coupling:
SPECIAL TOOL(S)
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the air conditioning system.
3. Remove the retaining bolt from the bracket to the exhaust manifold heat shield.
4. Using the special tool, disconnect the refrigerant line from the suction accumulator to the A/C compressor.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
CAUTION: Cap the refrigerant lines to prevent dirt ingress.
5. Raise and support the vehicle.
6. Remove the radiator splash shield.
7. Remove upper refrigerant line from the A/C condenser.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
CAUTION: Cap the refrigerant lines to prevent dirt ingress.
8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) and unclip the cable.
9. Remove the HO2S.
- Remove the coolant hose bracket.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube assembly.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
CAUTION: Cap the refrigerant lines to prevent dirt ingress.
12. Remove the manifold and tube assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE:
- Install new refrigerant line O-ring seals.
- Coat the refrigerant line O-ring seals in clean refrigerant oil prior to installation.
- When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

7 Belt tensioner
