Normal Operation

CAUTION: The crash sensors are sensitive electronic devices. To avoid possible component damage, do not attempt to test crash sensors with an ohmmeter.

The Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors the communications link to the passenger side crash sensor at RCM C310b pins 18 and 19, circuits 1263 (WH) and 1264 (BN). If the RCM loses communication with the passenger side crash sensor, it will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U2018 in memory and flash Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 45 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.

Possible Causes
A passenger side crash sensor communications fault can be caused by:
^ damaged wiring on circuit 1263 (WH) or 1264 (BN).
^ a passenger side crash sensor internal fault.
^ an RCM internal fault.
