Seats Not Removed

There are two reactivation procedures.
^ One procedure requires removal of the front seats. This procedure will be used when diagnosing side air bag or safety belt pretensioner concerns, and also when repairing any in-seat component.
^ The other procedure does not require front Seat removal. This procedure will be used when diagnosing a concern not related to the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).

WARNING: THE AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS MUST BE REMOVED AND THE AIR BAG MODULES RECONNECTED WHEN THE SYSTEM IS REACTIVATED TO AVOID NON-DEPLOYMENT IN A COLLISION, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
2. Wait at least one minute for the backup power supply in the Restraints Control Module (RCM) to deplete its stored energy.
3. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the clockspring connector.
^ Reconnect the electrical connector.
4. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness.
5. Install the passenger air bag module. For additional information refer to Air Bag.
6. Vehicles with side air bags, remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the floor connector beneath the front passenger seat.
7. Vehicles with side air bags, reconnect the passenger side air bag electrical connector.
8. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the floor connector beneath the front passenger seat.
9. Reconnect the ten-pin connector beneath the front passenger seat.
10. Vehicles with side air bags, remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the floor connector beneath the driver seat.
11. Vehicles with side air bags, reconnect the side air bag floor connector beneath the driver seat.
12. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the floor connector beneath the driver seat.
13. Reconnect the ten-pin connector beneath the driver seat.
14. Reconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
15. Prove out the system.
