Parts Ordering Information

No parts are required to perform this service procedure. If a replacement engine is required due to mechanical damage, Vulcan (2V) engines and claiming instructions are available though the Special Service Support Center. Please have compression test and/or spark plug inspection results ready to provide to the analyst as well as the engine serial number, part number, build date, engine code, model number, and description of the concern.

Since the Duratec (4V) engines are equipped with aluminum cylinder heads which transfer heat more efficiently, it is unlikely engine damage may have occurred as a result of a high ethylene glycol concentration. If engine damage due to a high ethylene glycol concentration is suspected, base engine diagnostics should be performed per the 2001 Taurus/Sable Shop Manual. If the cause is determined to be damage that resulted from a high ethylene glycol concentration, contact the Special Service Support Center.
