Normal Operation
The Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors the driver seat position switch at RCM C310b pins 8 and 9, circuits 1520 (LG) and 442 (LG/OG). If the RCM detects voltage, an open circuit or an unexpected current flow, it will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C1946 in memory and flash Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 26 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.
Possible Causes
A seat position switch circuit fault can be caused by:
^ an RCM internal concern.
^ a battery short on circuit 1520 (LG) or 442 (LG/OG).
^ high or low resistance on circuit 1520 (LG) or 442 (LG/OG).
^ a worn or damaged seat position sensor.
