Normal Operation
NOTE: In the buckled state, the RCM will see 258-455 ohms resistance to ground. In the unbuckled state, the RCM will see 725-1282 ohms resistance to ground.
The Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors the passenger safety belt buckle switch at RCM C310b pin 10, circuit 1514 (RD/BK). If the RCM detects voltage, an open circuit or an unexpected resistance, it will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B2436 in memory and flash Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 23 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.
Possible Causes
A passenger buckle switch circuit fault can be caused by:
^ an RCM internal concern.
^ a battery short on circuit 1514 (RD/BK).
^ high or low resistance on circuit 1514 (RD/BK).
^ a worn or damaged passenger pretensioner/buckle switch assembly.
