Normal Operation

CAUTION: The crash sensors are sensitive electronic devices. To avoid possible component damage, do not attempt to test crash sensors with an ohmmeter.

The Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors the communications link to the front crash sensor at RCM C310b pins 25 and 26, circuits 617 (PK/OG) and 618 (VT/LG). If the RCM loses communication with the front crash sensor or receives a mounting failure message from the front crash sensor, it will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B2225 or B2227 in memory and flash Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 14 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.

Possible Causes
A front crash sensor mounting fault or communications fault can be caused by:
^ damaged wiring on circuit 617 (PK/OG) or 618 (VT/LG).
^ a front crash sensor internal fault.
^ incorrect mounting of the front crash sensor.
^ an RCM internal fault.
