Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVALNOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the refrigerant system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
1. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.
2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Remove the engine cooling fans.
4. Remove the coolant pipe.
5. Raise the vehicle.
6. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly peanut fitting from the condenser.
- Discard the O-ring seal.
7. Disconnect the pressure cutoff switch electrical connector.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Detach the wiring harness.
10. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly from the A/C compressor.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
11. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly spring lock coupling from the suction accumulator.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
12. Remove the compressor manifold and tube assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent. See: Refrigerant Oil Addition.
- Install new O-ring seals lubricated in clean PAG oil.
2. Evacuate, leak test, and charge the refrigerant system.
