Fluid Line/Hose: Service and Repair

Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes

Removal and Installation





1. Remove the radiator cover.
2. Remove the battery.





3. Disconnect each fluid cooler tube from the transmission fluid cooler, as necessary.





4. WARNING: Turn off the electrical power to the air suspension prior to hoisting, jacking, or towing an air suspension equipped vehicle. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.

Turn the air suspension switch OFF, if so equipped.
5. Raise and support the vehicle.





6. Remove the bolt retaining the hose routing bracket to the frame.





7. Disconnect each fluid cooler tube from the transmission, as necessary.





8. Remove the bolt retaining the line routing bracket to the engine and remove the transmission fluid cooler tube(s).
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Fill the transmission to the correct level with MERCON V Automatic Transmission fluid XT-5-QM or equivalent meeting MERCON V specification. Inspect for leaks.
