Vehicles equipped with air suspension
1. WARNING: The electrical power to the air suspension system must be turned off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations.
Turn the air suspension switch off.
2. WARNING: Do not remove an air spring under any circumstances when there is air pressure in the air spring. Do not remove any components supporting an air spring without exhausting the air.
Release the air pressure from the air springs.
All vehicles
3. Remove the right rear wheel and tire assembly.
4. Support the axle using a suitable jack or jack stands.
5. Remove the two nuts and disconnect the sway bar links.
6. Remove the two nuts and disconnect the shocks from the axle.
7. Remove the nut and bolt from the RH lateral arm pivot.
Vehicles equipped with air suspension
8. Disconnect the height sensor from the bracket.
All vehicles
9. Lower the axle.
10. Remove the inlet pipe-to-muffler clamp.
^ Remove the clamp nuts.
^ Remove the clamp.
11. Detach the insulators.
12. Remove the muffler-to-tailpipe flange bolt and nuts.
13. Detach the insulator and remove the muffler and tailpipe.
14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
