Seat Occupant Sensor: Description and Operation

The seat occupant sensor informs the seat occupant sensor control module of the weight of any occupant or object in passenger seat. Based on programmed limits the seat occupant sensor control module will inform the Restraints Control Module (RCM) if the passenger air bag module is to be deactivated. The RCM uses this information in determine if the passenger air bag module is to be deployed in the event of a deployable crash.
