Powertrain/Drivetrain Mount Neutralizing Following Engine InstallationSpecial Tools:
SPECIAL TOOL(S)
1. NOTE:
^ Alignment of the engine/transaxle assembly is necessary in the case of any repairs to the subframe and support insulators, or if the engine starts to make booming noises.
^ The locations of support insulators and engine support insulators are described looking from the transaxle to the engine.
^ Steps which apply only to particular variants are indicated with a note.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL).
1. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose.
2. Disconnect two clips.
3. Disconnect the intake hose.
5. Install the special tools.
6. Disconnect the coolant expansion tank and lay it to one side.
^ Disconnect the speed control cable (if equipped) from the coolant expansion tank.
7. Loosen the bolts on the front support insulator two turns.
8. Loosen the bolts on the rear support insulator two turns.
9. Raise and support the vehicle.
10. Remove the engine undershield (if equipped).
^ Remove nine bolts.
11. Loosen the bolts of the right-hand engine support insulator two turns.
1. Remove the center bolt.
2. Remove the bracket bolts.
12. Remove the left-hand engine support insulator.
NOTE: The engine support insulator cannot be taken out at this stage.
13. Remove the left-hand engine support insulator.
^ Remove the bracket of the left-hand engine support insulator.
^ Remove the engine support insulator.
^ Install the bracket again.
14. Using the special tools, check the position of the subframe.
NOTE: It should be possible to insert the special tools free of strain in the subframe and body locating bores.
15. Align the subframe (as necessary).
1. With the special tool inserted, tighten the four bolts, working diagonally.
2. Remove the special tools.
NOTE: The subframe must not move during the tightening operation.
16. Lower the vehicle.
17. Install the special tool in the place of the left-hand engine support insulator.
18. Align the rear support insulator bracket and secure it.
CAUTION: Do not distort or turn the support insulator.
19. Align the front support insulator bracket and secure it.
CAUTION: Do not distort or turn the support insulator.
20. Remove the special tools.
21. Raise and support the vehicle.
22. Tighten the bolts of the right-hand engine support insulator.

2. Center bolt.
23. Remove the special tool.
1. Remove the center bolt.
2. Remove the bolts.
3. Remove the special tool.
24. Install the left-hand engine support insulator.
^ Remove the bracket of the left-hand engine support insulator from the transaxle.
^ Install the engine support insulator.
^ Install the bracket again.
25. Install the left-hand engine support insulator.
1. Attach the engine support insulator to the subframe (two bolts).
2. Install the center bolt.
CAUTION: Do not tilt the engine support insulator.
26. Install the engine undershield (if equipped).
27. Lower the vehicle.
28. Install the coolant expansion tank.
^ Attach the speed control cable (if equipped) to the coolant expansion tank.
29. Install the air cleaner (ACL).
^ Press the ACL into the rubber bushes.
1. Connect the crankcase ventilation hose.
2. Install the two clips.
3. Connect the intake hose.
30. Install the battery.
31. Connect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
32. Check the fluid levels and correct as necessary.
33. Check the routing of the vacuum hoses and wiring and secure them with Cable ties
