Vehicles Built Up to 08/2000
DISASSEMBLY1. Remove the front seat.
2. Remove the head restraint.
^ Depress the clips whilst lifting the head restraint from the seat.
3. Remove the head restraint guide tubes.
1. Use a screwdriver to release the retainer.
2. Pull the tube from the seat backrest.
4. Fold the backrest forwards.
5. Release the plastic retaining strip at the base of the backrest.
6. Release the plastic retaining strips from the left and right-hand side of the backrest.
7. Remove the two hog rings from the left and right- side of the seat frame base.
8. Detach the seat backrest release cables.
1. Lift the handle to access the underside.
2. Release each of the backrest release cables in turn.
9. Remove the backrest release handle.
^ Detach the outer cables from the backrest release the handle.
10. Remove the backrest seat cover and pad assembly.
11. Remove the left and right-hand backrest hingecovers.
^ Detach the velero strip.
12. Remove the backrest release cables.
^ Detach the left and right-hand release cable.
ASSEMBLY
WARNING: WHEN INSTALLING A NEW SEAT COVER MAKE SURE THE REPLACEMENT COVER IS OF THE CORRECT TYPE IF THE SEAT HAS A SIDE AIR BAG FITTED. THESE SEAT COVERS ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS WARNING WILL CAUSE IMPAIRED AIR HAG DEPLOYMENT AND MAY CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.
NOTE:
^ Use hog ring pliers to close the hog rings. Do not use pliers. The hog rings should be closed to overlap by 8 mm to make sure the cover is correctly retained and holds its shape.
^ Make sure the seat cover is correctly positioned onto the backrest frame to give correct cover to frame alignment.
