Installation
Special Tools:
Installation
1. Install the rear engine support bracket and bolts.
2. Install the bracket.
3. Install the transaxle.
- Position the transaxle on a high lift jack.
- Apply Multi-Purpose Grease DOAZ-19584-AA meeting Ford specification ESB-M1C93-B or equivalent to the torque converter pilot hub.
4. Install the bolts.
5. Install the transaxle retaining bolt.
6. Install the transaxle retaining bolt.
7. Install new torque to flexplate nuts.
8. Install the transmission housing cover.
9. Install the starter motor.
10. Install the LH halfshaft.
11. Install the RH halfshaft.
12. Install the subframe assembly.
13. Remove the 3 Bar Engine Support.
14. Remove the LH Engine Lifting Bracket.
15. Remove the RH Engine Lifting Bracket.
16. Install the bolts.
17. Reconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
18. Install the retaining clips.
19. Install the bracket and ground cable.
20. Verify that the digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor is correctly adjusted.
21. Install the manual control lever cable and nut.
1 Install the manual control lever cable into the bracket.
2 Tighten the nut.
22. Reconnect the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor connector.
23. Reconnect the power steering and Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) sensor.
24. Install the electrical connector bracket.
25. Install the power steering line bracket.
26. Reconnect the connector.
27. Reconnect the connector.
28. Install the battery tray.
29. Install the air filter assembly.
30. Install the engine air cleaner.
31. Reconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and the breather tubes.
32. Install the battery.
33. Fill the transaxle using MERCON (R) Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-5-QM or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON (R).
34. Start the engine. Move the transaxle range selector lever through all positions. Check the fluid level.
