Reverse Clutch
Special Tools:
Disassembly
1. Remove the reverse clutch pack assembly.
1 Remove the reverse clutch pressure plate retaining snap ring.
2 Remove the reverse clutch pressure plate.
3 Remove the clutch pack.
4 Remove the wave spring.
2. CAUTION: Do not fully compress the spring retainer.
Use the special tool, remove the snap ring.
3. Remove the reverse clutch support and spring.
4. Remove the reverse clutch piston.
5. Remove the reverse clutch piston outer seal.
6. Remove the reverse clutch piston inner seal.
Assembly
1. Note: The lip on the seal faces toward the bottom of the cylinder.
Install new reverse clutch piston inner seal.
2. Note: The lip on the seal faces toward the bottom of the cylinder.
Install new reverse clutch piston outer seal.
3. Using the special tool, install the reverse clutch piston. Install the reverse clutch piston into the special tool and install it into the reverse clutch cylinder.
4. Install the reverse clutch support and spring.
5. CAUTION: Do not fully compress the spring retainer.
Using the special tool, install the snap ring.
6. Install the reverse clutch pressure plate retainer snap ring.
1 Install the wave spring.
2 Install the clutch pack.
3 Install the reverse clutch pressure plate.
4 Install the reverse clutch pressure plate retaining snap ring.
7. WARNING: To prevent injury, wear eye protection when using pressurized air.
Note: Be sure the shop air is dry and regulated at 276 kPa (40 psi).
Apply air pressure to the clutch assembly and check for correct operation.
8. Note: Measure the clearance using a feeler gauge. Take two readings 180 degrees apart, and determine the average of the two readings.
Using the special tool, measure the clearance.
9. If the clearance is not within specification selective retaining rings are available. Check the clearance after installing the correct selective retaining ring.
