Caliper Removal and Installation






Removal and Installation

WARNING: Use of any other than approved DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid will cause permanent damage to brake components and will render the brakes inoperative.

WARNING: Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, wash it immediately with water

1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.





2. Loosen the parking brake adjuster nut.
- Hold the rod while turning the nut.





3. Disconnect the parking brake cable.
1 Detach the cable from the parking brake lever.
2 Remove the E-clip and pull the cable from the caliper.





4. Remove the bolt and disconnect the brake hose.
- Remove and discard both copper washers.





5. Remove the bolts and the brake caliper.





6. Note: Make sure that one of the two slots in the piston and adjuster face is positioned so it will engage the tab on the brake shoe and lining.

Using the special tool, rotate the piston and adjuster clockwise until it is fully seated.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Use new copper washers.
8. Adjust the parking brake cable.
9. Bleed the caliper.
