The WIM cellular phone system customer supplies the cellular phone and the Phone Adapter System (PAS) designed for the phone.
The portable cellular phone system has two operating modes: hands-free and portable. Hands-free operation mode allows phone operation without picking the phone up. It uses the vehicle audio system speakers to receive sound and the headliner- mounted microphone to speak into. When connected to the vehicle, the WIM system will turn the radio on with the ignition ON or OFF. Portable operation mode allows phone usage while it is disconnected from the PAS. The phone is battery powered when used in the portable mode.
