HVAC Housing
REMOVAL
1. Prepare the vehicle for heater core and evaporator core housing removal.
1. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Service and Repair, Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure, Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery procedure
2. Remove the dash board. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard/Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Removal and Installation, Removal and Installation
2. Remove the right side cowl vent screen.
3. Remove the screws and the water shield.
4. Disconnect the vacuum supply hose.
5. Using suitable hose pinching pliers, clamp the heater hoses. Disconnect the heater hoses. Cap the heater core tubes.
6. Disconnect the evaporator outlet spring lock coupling and cap the evaporator outlet tube and the suction accumulator tube.
- During installation, install new O-ring seals lubricated with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
7. Remove the two bolts.
8. Disconnect the evaporator inlet spring lock coupling and cap the evaporator inlet tube and the condenser to evaporator line tube.
- During installation, install new O-ring seals lubricated with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
9. Remove the three nuts at the dash panel.
10. Remove the screws and the heater outlet floor duct.
11. Remove the bolt and nut.
12. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Heater Core, Service and Repair, Service and Repair
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. Evacuate, leak test and charge the A/C system. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Service and Repair, Evacuation and Charging Procedure, Evacuation and Charging Procedure
3. Refill the cooling system.
