Lower Intake Manifold
Removal1. Perform fuel pressure release.
2. Remove the upper intake manifold.
3. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the vacuum line.
4. Disconnect the fuel line spring lock coupling.
5. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
6. Remove the bolts in the sequence shown, and remove the lower intake manifold.
7. Remove the fuel rail.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Carefully separate the lower intake manifold from the fuel rail.
8. Remove the fuel injectors from the lower intake manifold.
9. Remove and inspect the gaskets from the lower intake manifold.
Installation
1. Install the gaskets in the lower intake manifold.
2. CAUTION: Never use silicone grease. It will clog the fuel injectors.
Note: Inspect the fuel injector new O-ring seals and install new O-ring seals if necessary.
Lubricate the new O-ring seals lightly with Super Premium SAE 5W-30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent, meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G and install the fuel injectors into the lower intake manifold.
3. Install the fuel rail.
1. Position the fuel rail.
2. Install the bolts.
4. Install the lower intake manifold assembly and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
5. Connect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
6. Connect the fuel line spring lock coupling.
7. Connect the fuel pressure regulator.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Connect the vacuum line.
8. Install the upper intake manifold.
