Oil Pan, Engine
Removal1. Remove the LH exhaust manifold to pipe nuts.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the front RH wheel.
4. Remove the RH front inner wheel splash shield.
- Remove the screws and the pin-type retainer.
5. Disconnect the RH Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
6. Remove the exhaust bracket bolt.
7. Disconnect the LH HO2S sensor electrical connector.
8. Remove the RH exhaust manifold to pipe nuts.
9. Support the exhaust system.
10. Remove the nuts and the Y-pipe.
- Discard the gasket.
11. Drain the engine oil.
- Install a new drain plug gasket and tighten the drain plug to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
12. Remove the bolts, nuts and the engine to transaxle bracket.
13. Remove the torque convertor inspection cover.
14. Remove the 18 bolts and the oil pan.
Installation
1. Clean all sealing surfaces on the engine and the oil pan with Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ-19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M5B392-A.
2. Position a new gasket on the oil pan.
3. Note: The oil pan must be installed and the bolts tightened with in six minutes of sealant application.
Apply a 10 mm (0.40 inch) diameter dot of Silicone Gasket and Sealer F7AZ-19554-EA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A4 to the areas indicated.
4. Position the oil pan and hand tighten the oil pan to transaxle bolts.
5. Tighten the oil pan bolts in the sequence shown
6. Tighten the oil pan to transaxle bolts.
7. Install the torque convertor inspection cover.
8. Position the engine to transaxle bracket and install the nuts and the bolt.
9. Position the Y-pipe and gasket and install the nuts.
10. Install the RH exhaust manifold to pipe nuts.
11. Connect the LH HO2S electrical connector.
12. Install the exhaust bracket bolt.
13. Install the RH front inner wheel splash shield.
- Install the screws and the pin-type retainer.
14. Install the RH wheel.
15. Lower the vehicle.
16. Install the LH exhaust manifold to pipe nuts.
17. Fill crankcase to proper level with Super Premium SAE 5W-30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.
