Parameter Identification (PIDs)

Restraint Control Module (RCM) Parameter Identification (PID) index:

Restraint Control Module (RCM) Parameter Identification (PID) Index

To retrieve PIDs, follow these steps:
1. Connect the NGS Tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
3. Select the MODEL YEAR and VEHICLE.
4. Select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK.
5. Select RCM (Restraint Control Module).
6. Select PEDICATIO MONITOR AND RECORD.
7. Record all PIDs that are to be retrieved and press START. PIDs are continuously updated on the display

The PID/Data Monitor and Record option allows the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester operator to read the state of several Parameter IDs (PIDs) to aid in diagnosing the system. PIDs are real time measurements of parameters such as voltages, resistances, etc., calculated by the Restraint Control Module (RCM) and sent to the NGS Tester for display. Many of the PIDs supported by the RCM are calculated periodically and are therefore not true real time readings. The Restraint Control Module (RCM) Parameter Identification (PID) index is a table of supported PIDs, expected range and units of measurement.
